The client is a leading U.S provider of healthcare and pharmacy software solutions for long-term care. The company’s mission is to improve healthcare by strengthening the role of independent pharmaceutical organizations by providing affordable and high-quality specialized software. The client’s software allows for managing patient information, orders, pharmaceutical product delivery, billing, and electronic prescriptions.
To boost the team’s productivity and optimize workflows, the client approached NIX to reinforce their software for data analytics. The existing solution didn’t provide enough flexibility and had a lack of functionality.
The NIX team’s scope included:
Redesign existing dashboards for better user experience
Develop a new BI solution to boost productivity and increase business functionality
After thoroughly analyzing the client request, we suggested using Power BI and Python, which perfectly covers the desired objectives without constructing a complex data engineering solution, thus saving the client’s budget.
As data sources, we used:
We connected to the VersionOne tracking system, Zoho API, and SharePoint using the Power Query Web connector—a data transformation engine that works with API requests to Power BI. This allowed us to load data into Power BI and perform custom calculations for the dashboards using DAX programming language.
The NIX team reinvented existing dashboards and created new ones with custom visualization and expanded functionality. Using custom Python scripts, we provided the ability to perform complex calculations and then display them on the dashboards that Power BI does not have out of the box.
New dashboards can also automatically generate and display reports for the management department, saving time spent on mundane report-generation tasks.
Interactive Power BI reports for the company’s major departments can be assessed by roles and provide the following features:
Personal performance and velocity per sprint and average score
Velocity by team proportional per sprint and average overall velocity
Automatically generated reports for management
Amount of closed tasks and defects per task
Open and closed change requests
Custom KPI reports for teams
As a result, the newly implemented Power BI analytics solution empowered the client with comprehensive analytics that dramatically boosted the productivity for the teams and individuals.
Due to custom visualization, calculations, and automatically generated performance reports, managers can track productivity and easily modify workflows to meet KPIs, thus saving time and funds.
