Celebrating 30 Years of NIX and Honoring the Journey We Built Together

Last week in Boston, part of the NIX team had the pleasure of gathering with friends and clients for an unforgettable evening—NIX’s 30th-anniversary celebration—a testament to three decades of innovation, creative bravery, and a commitment to always going the extra mile. It was a time to come together, share stories, have some fun, let loose, and reflect on the incredible journey NIX has shared with its partners and clients.

This celebration wasn’t just about looking back; it was a reminder of what has always been at the heart of NIX—friendship, teamwork, and a shared vision for building something bigger together. The room was alive with energy, filled with business leaders, executives, tech innovators, and members of Boston’s vibrant IT communities like Open Data Science and Venture Café Cambridge. Each of them has played a role in NIX’s story, shaping milestones and driving success through every challenge and triumph. 

The event was expertly hosted by Alex Kozyr, our Boston resident, Sr. Director of Client Solutions, and a valued member of the NIX family, whose bold energy and engaging presence made the evening even more memorable.

Our Humble Beginnings

NIX’s story began in 1994, in a modest garage in Kharkiv, where Igor Braginsky and three university classmates developed a precursor to modern search engines. The early days were tough—every project felt like a test of survival. Friends sold custom software to local businesses, from B2B matchmaking engines to accounting tools for shops and pharmacies. As the tech world expanded, so did their vision.

By the late 1990s, with the Internet boom in full swing, NIX stepped into the global market, opening its first international office in Israel in 1997. This marked a turning point, laying the foundation for NIX to become the trusted global IT partner it is today.

Challenges We Overcame

The journey wasn’t without its challenges. The dot-com bubble burst in 2001 hit hard, but instead of folding, NIX secured a major project with a leading European ERP company—a moment that reinforced resilience as a core part of NIX’s DNA.

Fast forward to today, and that same resilience drives NIX forward. The company is opening a new office in Boston, bringing the team closer to clients and partners, while relocating its main R&D operations to Budapest to fuel innovation and growth. With a reputation built on trust, referrals, and results, NIX has grown organically, nearly doubling every three years in team size, projects, and technological expertise.
