Business Overview

Our client, N2 Plus LLC, is a US-based company that provides customers with automotive services by connecting them with authorized dealers and offering them roadside membership. Car dealers are legally obliged to inform customers about vehicle recalls if the manufacturer finds a system error in the entire range of models. In these cases, the customer returns the vehicle to the dealer, and the dealer fixes the error at the manufacturer’s expense. 

Faced with the primary website’s limitation in providing efficient and timely services to clientele, N2 Plus decided to develop a cross-platform mobile application. 

This was meant to serve as an efficient and automatic system of customer notification, prevent liability risks, save lives, and maintain cars’ functionality. Furthermore, additional features would expand the dealer customer base, increase customer loyalty, and offer extra services.

To navigate the complexities of development and execute an extensive mobile product, the company engaged NIX, leveraging our deep expertise in mobile application development and proven track record within the automotive sector.

Challenge

During development, we faced a few challenges, including:

    Time and resource limitations when establishing a smooth connection between the app and the client’s CRM due to its outdated nature and limited access

  • 2

    Establishing a user flow that eliminates the possibility of overlooked recall notifications and prevents liability risks

Solution

We approached the development with proof of concept (PoC) to validate the feasibility of integrating with the company’s internal CRM. After successful and stable integration, we continued with further development utilizing React Native framework, NodeJS, and Firebase.

Instead of overloading the application with complex built-in features, we designed it as a modular system around the core architecture. This allows the client to rebuild, remove, and add features without affecting core functionality.

NIX also established a connection with the official car manufacturer database. By adding their vehicle information to the database, customers can receive automated notifications for oil changes, tire changes, and other essential car services.

SQLite Implementation

One of the custom solutions we provided for the Drive 1 Plus app was implementing SQLite rather than establishing a full-fledged large database to avoid unnecessary spending for the client. Usually, databases process requests independently, and multiple users can access them.

As such, they’re set on separate servers that require additional resources, and optimizing databases is a separate service that also requires extra effort and costs.

The SQLite file is set alongside the core code, processes requests, and provides the user with the required data on its own. Since SQLite supports single-user access, it improves the application’s security level.

Additionally, its flexibility, small footprints, and lightweight nature perfectly match the Drive 1 Plus app’s requirements, leading to cost savings for the client.

Cross-platform Biometric Integration

Another solution was implementing the dual-layer authentication system into the cross-platform mobile app, which means storing authorization keys both on the app and the server. This ensures that all biometric verification requests are processed on the server instead of the application, reducing the risks of local breaches. The server validates the user and commands the app to grant or deny access, building an extra fortification layer against potential threats.

Outcome

With the application we developed for iOS and Android platforms, the client succeeded in significantly expanding their customer and dealership base, increasing their retention and fortifying their app with robust security. By launching the Drive 1 Plus application and boosting their clientele, they experienced the rapid growth of their business.

 

The client returned to us for further development of new modules of this app. They want to expand roadside assistance functionality by adding new mechanics such as requesting help, tech assistance in car accidents, and Kelly Blue Book (KBB) valuation.

 

Additionally, the client partnered with RMG Global, which decided to provide their extended warranty (EW) customers with an additional Drive 1 app as part of their purchases. For these EW customers, RMG Global will establish dealership centers across the US. In 2025, they forecast opening over 200 centers, providing customers with the Drive 1 app within their services.
