Business Overview

Our client, Fotoware, is a world-leading provider of Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions and content operations platforms, with 25 years of experience and over 1,400 customers in 40 countries worldwide. Fotoware enables businesses of various scales to address complex workflow needs with seamless and efficient digital asset management.

One of their flagship products is a SaaS platform that allows working with media content after it has been uploaded to the client’s servers. The solution targets both independent users and large businesses in various industries, especially media, entertainment, publishing, and marketing, helping them manage digital files in a more convenient manner.

Initially, customers could access the system only through the web platform, which wasn’t enough to cater to the growing demand for mobile-centric experiences. To ensure seamless accessibility and user engagement on the go, the client decided to create a mobile version of their solution.

Fotoware turned to NIX for help, choosing us for our multi-year mobile development expertise. Our task was to develop a cross-platform application based on the existing web system, taking into account compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR.

Solution

Our experts built a React Native-powered application that duplicates the web platform’s functionality, ensuring full synchronization of both system’s versions. When choosing the best development approach, we took into account the client’s request to create a versatile, easily supported and scalable solution with a unified UX flow already familiar to users.

Key Features

The Fotoware mobile app provides all the web platform features, allowing users to share files, run approval workflows, get GDPR consent, and much more on the go. Specifically, users can:

  1. Upload any file from the user’s Photo Library or Files app to Fotoware.

  2. Work with tags by adding and editing asset metadata, such as keywords, descriptions, and other configured fields.

  3. Search, browse, and preview all the files they uploaded to Fotoware.

  4. Preview different file types—including images, PDFs, and Word documents—and playback videos.

  5. Create albums to share files with colleagues and external parties.

  6. Download separate files or entire collections from Fotoware to the mobile device.

  7. Use digital files in compliance with data protection regulations, sending a personalized consent form via email to the media content owner

The application, available to all Fotoware subscribers, takes customer service to a whole new level, as users now are free to choose how, where, and through which device they prefer to work with digital files.

Access to more efficient and secure media content management has increased companies’ trust and loyalty to Fotoware. Businesses appreciate that Fotoware is committed to fully meeting their relevant workflow needs and offers the best possible solutions. The result is enhanced user satisfaction, better customer engagement, and improved ROI.

All in all, we’re proud to say that our team achieved a great result, and the client was happy with our cooperation as we could bring their idea to life exactly as planned.
